THE REVEALOR OF THE UNDERGROUND
These towers are the monument of the city of Ardebil. Ardebil’s main advantage over other cities is the hot underground water, which contain medical chemicals.
Water flows at different layers of the earth’s surface and creates joints. Water joints, enables the water to reach the ground surface. The main idea of the design was to reveal this process.
The initial volume which was a cube was divided to two parts. The existing cracks are a metaphor of the cracks caused by the underground water which flows at different layers of the ground. The horizontal windows represent the underground layers.
For representing the water joints, the best solution was to consider visual contact between the two towers. This contact is viewable at different angles. Considering a bridge was the simplest Solution. The existence of strong winds made this solution unpractical. A visual contact was considered instead.
The Sabalan Mountain and the Shourabi Lake are the favourite views of their city. The interior advantages from open views to both of these natural attractions.
