THE BOOK CITY

This book city is a large bookshop. It is meant to have various spaces with their particular specifications, such as the children’s book section. This section has a deep playground which attracts children, by its depth. Happy and diverse colours  amuse children.

Part of the roof of the last level is sliced and raised in order to enable light to penetrate by the side. The light then runs down through the void of the stairs, spreading through each level. The rise of this part of the roof is a metaphor of a book which has just begun to open.

The free and playful forms of the artistic books section, represents the free and playful world of the art world. Since this section is amusing by its’ free and playful forms, it has two round seats to sit down and study. It is even more pleasant to be sitting here towards a glass wall which gifts a broad view towards outside.

The poster and postal card section have colourful lights, as an addition to the playful graphic design of the posters and postal cards.

The space around the stairs is amusing by the pictures hanging around its’ curving side.
